It is very important for you to start getting ready to move overseas as soon as possible. If you procrastinate or delay it will make the moving process a lot more complicated and stressful. We would like to take a moment and share with you our experience in regards to international moving preparation to help you avoid unpleasant experience.

Getting started with an International Move

We will send you our international relocation coordinator to examine your residence and possessions. He will explain you the details of the international moving process and inspect items that you will be shipping overseas. It’s very important to show your coordinator everything that needs to be moved and items that you will be leaving behind. He will also give you a list of items that you won’t be able to take with you, such as: matches, lighters, automobile liquids and chemicals, fireworks, paints and construction chemicals, BBQ gasoline and propane, radio-pharmaceuticals, oxygen tanks, poisons, ammunition etc.

Details of your international move

Keep in mind that you need to provide as much information as possible to your coordinator. He needs to see every item you’re planning to ship. The reason for that is your satisfaction; your coordinator will be able to tailor much more thorough and detailed moving plan for you if he has all the information at his disposal. For example, if you are going to ship a computer desk, let your coordinator know that you are planning to ship a computer itself, printer, scanner and monitor. Open desk drawers and let him inspect the content. When he has all the info, he will tell you that the desk should be disassembled, computer and electronics properly packed in separate boxes, drawers should be emptied and content sorted and packed separately as well.

Another very important aspect of your move planning is to show your coordinator every item that you will not be shipping overseas. You may want to sell or donate some of your belongings and we need to know what will be excluded from the shipment. It is also important to let us know if you are planning to buy new items before the move or if you have other belongings that are not at your residence at the time of the inspection. Your moving quote will be based on the amount of items and weight, so we have to know exactly what we will be shipping.

If you will decide to move some of your belongings in a local storage, please let us know what exactly will be moved and if you are going to do it yourself or want us to help you with that.
